I've done a full reset, downloaded new firmware via garmin express under instruction from garmin but it's still the same. They now say it's a software issue, no one else seems to be having this issue. I ran the chicago marathon on Sunday and my watch has given over 3000m elevation change for it. Surely it's an altimeter/barometer hardware issue?

I've searched here and online and I'm seeing a lot of people are having problems with the altimeter on their Fenix 5. When I first got the watch I went for a short walk and tracked it. Elevation was all over the place. So I've calibrated it and set it to altimeter mode. It seemed be be working when I looked at the widget. (reading around 75 / 80m)

Fenix 5x Plus - no GPS signal. seth586 over 3 years ago. My watch suddenly stopped getting a GPS signal, the connection bar stays red when I start a new activity. Waiting for a signal and never get a lock. I even left it in an open field for an hour to try to get a position fix, nothing. Firmware: 15.3 (updated to beta, didn't fix)

Connect your garmin to your PC and copy this file into the Garmin/app folder and it should be ok. You should see an altimeter app into the Garmin. be aware you need to be outside to use. During the initiation, the Garmin will get a position fix, which will be assumed to be the dropzone.
My altimeter reading dropped by 70mtrs today for no apparent reason and as for floor count I am talking mainly about a flight of domestic stairs which my FB Blaze counted accurately every day that I had it, the Fenix 5 counts sometimes then not others, but always under by about 60-70%.

The Garmin Fenix 7 Pro is not a full smartwatch because it lacks cellular connectivity and a proper app store—though the Connect IQ store is useful for watch faces, third-party data fields, and the Parkrun barcode app. The watch does have several useful smart features, though. Music is the best of them. You got a serious issue with your altimeter. Do you got the same kind of behavior with your barometer ? (If yes it could be an hardware problem and you are under warranty, if not it could be a widget problem hence the resetting) Have you try the last beta 3.55 ? Yes, the barometer has problems too! Ive had an old Forerunner and then a couple of Vivo's and then a Fenix 5S. Now I have a Fenix 5X. I never had any issues until I got the Fenix 5S. I;ve had it for not even a year when I noticed that the GPS was weird. It would just stop recording GPS even when the activity (run) is still going and it is recording other metrics (steps, strides

RE: garmin fenix 5x plus altimeter issues If you move 150 km away from where the watch was calibrated, the air pressure even at the same altitude can be quite different at the new location. So during your travel, the pressure will change, both because your probably travel through different altitudes, and because you travel through different
I recently bought a Fenix 5 Plus (my first Garmin watch). I've been a consistent runner/cyclist that used strava in my phone to record my activities. I was quite excited with the new elevation accuracy i would get from the altimeter until i went on my first run and noticed that the starting point from where i start all my runs was up by 80
